On 27 November, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the largest bank in China and the world, opened a new branch in Barcelona in an 850-m² building in El Eixample.
The branch is the result of ICBC's growth in Spain after opening its first branch in Madrid in 2011.
In both cities, the Chinese bank has opened administrative offices and a branch for the general public in the same building, offering private and corporate banking services.
ICBC has also decided to further its growth in the capital. According to sources at Madrid City Hall, on 13 November last it accepted an offer of €21.8 million from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China for the building at Paseo de Recoletos, 12, currently used by the Department of the Environment, Security and Mobility.
ICBC required INVEST IN SPAIN's services for its implantation in our country and has highlighted Spain's strategic and logistic importance as a gateway to Europe.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a EUR 200 million loan to Banco Popular for financing the investment projects of small and medium-sized businesses, mainly in the industry and service sectors. Read more
