May 20th 2012, marked the start of the Women Leadership Exchange Program – an unique leadership development initiative for women leaders in Sweden and in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
19 women managers from the public and private sector, operating on a local and global market, gathered in Klippan, Sweden for the first of two modules, the second of which will take place in Dubai in January of 2013.
This leadership development program is a joint venture of MiL Institute, Women for Sustainable Growth (W4SG) and Dubai Women Establishment (DWE).
This leadership program, which has elicited a great interest in both regions, aims to promote women managers to be in the forefront of a sustainable leadership practice – a leadership practice that “meets the needs of the present” – on a personal, organizational and global level, “without compromising the needs of the future”.
A leadership practice whose first step is realizing that securing the sustainability of now and tomorrow is not a problem that can be solved once and for all, but rather a dilemma, a balancing act to be lived and managed continuously.
Laying the foundation for sustainable leadership – achieved by self-knowledge, a strong community and a network of women leaders – was the focus of the first days in Sweden. As part of the program the participants met and shared best practice with women managers holding leading positions in Swedish organizations.
