Publicerat av Cecilia Helland Tuesday, 03 April 2012.

The Finnish government is providing EUR 157 million energy support funding to increase the production and use of renewable energy in the country.

The goal is also to improve energy efficiency and energy saving in Finland. Last year the government granted EUR 110 million in energy support.

About EUR 100 million of the total is reserved for a traffic biofuel demonstration plant, according to the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. Smaller scale demonstration projects will receive support worth EUR 7 million, while EUR 15 million will go to improving energy efficiency, and EUR 20 million to demonstration projects for replacing coal.

Other projects designed to increase the use of renewable energy will receive EUR 15 million, and include solar energy systems, biogas for traffic, and forest chip production machinery and equipment.
