The EU wants the citizens to work longer

The EU Commission wants the citizens of the EU-27 countries to work longer before retiring.

Employment rates among the elderly aged 55-64 within the EU in 2010.

 

The top countries:

Sweden 70.5 percent

Germany 57.7

Denmark 57.6

The UK 57.1

 

The bottom of the list:

Malta 30.2 percent

Poland 34

Hungary 34.4

Slovenia 35

Italy 36.6

The older generation in Sweden work for a long time and they may continue working until they are 75 years old, if the Swedish government makes that decision.
